TZOO - 042406; 15-minute chart

posted by Tom C:

My charts are set-up exactly like Trader-X's.

TZOO presented a set-up that I really like - a narrow-range, inside bar inside that forms "inside the tail" of the previous bar - and above the 1/2 way mark of the previous bar. This rallied nicely off a break of the second bar high and hit the Fibonacci extension eight bars later.

Tom, good trade. Would I be correct to assume that if the first bar had closed weak or the second bar had been below 50%, you would have not taken the trade. Cheers.

Great trade Tom! I have a quick question. When you entered on the break of the second bar, did you mean that you took a position on the 3rd bar only after it has "broken" the high of the previous bar?

Would you still take a position if it actually went down lower than the previous bar high, but *later* breaks the high? How long would you wait before that happens?

Thanks!

TJ - yes, same as X. I enter on a break of the 2nd bar high. If that break does not occur on the next bar - in this case the 3rd bar - then the set-up is no longer valid.

If price would have first dipped below the 2nd bar low, and then taken out the 2nd bar high, I don't know if I would have entered. I take it on a case by case basis. Tom C.

Hi Tom,

"I enter on a break of the 2nd bar high. If that break does not occur on the next bar - in this case the 3rd bar - then the set-up is no longer valid."

There were many instances in my stock screening where the next bar would dip below the prevous bar's high (but not low enough to take out the complete filled bar), but eventually take the high out in the same bar. I guess my question is if there is a time-frame you and X look for (within the same bar) in order for it to break the high befor you move onto something else (1min, 2min, or anytime before the close of the bar)?

Sorry for the convoluted question!

Thanks again for posting while X is out.

TJ - no timeframe except for the length of that next bar - since I am looking at 15-minute charts, then I guess the timeframe is 15-minutes...if it does not occur during that next bar, I move on. But, I don't care if it happens at the beginning or end of that next bar - i.e. 1-minute in or 14-minutes in.

Hope that makes sense. Tom C.
